entry into Singapore, it was reported by Jay Ripley, president and CEO of
North America's leading franchiser of auto care centers.
Klondike, Ltd., newly formed by a group of Singapore investors active in
real estate, investment banking, auto repair and other endeavors, will launch
the first of its seven Precision Tune Auto Care (PTAC) centers during the
first quarter of 1998, according to operating partner Ho Schwen. The first
unit, a scheduled conversion of an existing auto repair facility, is scheduled
to open in March 1998. Over the next five veers, other centers are expected
to be developed in strategic locations around Singapore convenient to

"This positions us for further expansion in Southeast Asia," said Ripley,
who noted the company's operations in Taiwan. "Our new master franchisor in
Singapore will have our support and counsel every step of the way," stressed
Nick Nicolai, senior vice president for franchise development of the Leesburg,
Va.-based franchisor. "That includes everything from operations to on-going
marketing assistance."
It also includes the company's unparalleled technical training. In fact,
PTAC sent its expert trainers overseas to provide Klondike's automotive

diagnostics, maintenance and repair. "The advanced technical training covered
diagnosis, repair, component replacement and maintenance of all
performance-related systems, including complete brake service and oil
changes," added Nicolai, who said management of the newly-formed Singapore
company "recently underwent 3 weeks of training at out headquarters near
Washington, D.C."
Precision Auto Care, on a combined pro-forma basis, has 625 units, and
achieved pro-forma sales of $217 million for the fiscal year ended June 30,
