North American International Auto Show Charity Preview is a Sell-OutDETROIT, Dec. 15 -- The Preview Charities for Children are pleased to announce that the 1998 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) Charity Preview set for Friday, January 9 is a sell-out. Sponsored by the Detroit Auto Dealers Association (DADA), the 1998 Charity Preview is expected to raise more than $3 million on behalf of 10 area children's charities. The largest, most successful fundraising event of its kind in the world, DADA's Charity Preview provides major funding for the 10 participating children's charities. The DADA, comprised of 250 auto dealers in southeast Michigan, has supported Detroit-area children's charities for the past 20 years, raising more than $11.5 million including $2.6 million in 1997. "Thousands of area children and families will directly benefit from the generosity of the 15,000 people who have purchased tickets for the DADA Charity Preview," said Pete Rosenau, co-chairman of the DADA's 1998 NAIAS. "In one evening, the DADA will raise more than $3 million to help prevent child abuse and neglect, provide positive role models and mentors, continue educational and athletic programs, and prevent birth defects and infant mortality." "Frankly, we're amazed -- and thrilled -- with the early response. Metro Detroiters have big hearts. And we've proven it once again with this outstanding sell-out," said Harold Kuhn, co-chairman. "The DADA's NAIAS is celebrating its tenth year as an international event and I can't think of a better way to kick off the celebration than the Charity Preview, which benefits so many needy children and families in our community. The Charity Preview is truly the hottest feel-good ticket in town." The 10 Preview Charities for Children are BARAT Child and Family Services, Boys & Girls Club of Southeast Michigan, Boys Hope-Girls Hope Detroit, The Children's Center, Children's Homes of Judson Center, Children's Services of Northeast Guidance Center Assistance League, The Detroit Institute for Children, the Detroit Police Athletic League, Easter Seal Society of Southeastern Michigan and the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation.
