Autoliv Appoints Top Management in the U.S.

    STOCKHOLM, Dec. 4 -- Autoliv Inc. ,
a worldwide leader in automotive safety, has decided to organize its
operations in Autoliv ASP Inc. in North America into three groups.
Autoliv North America (ANA) will be responsible for marketing and sales
direct to car manufacturers of seat belt systems, airbag modules, airbag
inflators, steering wheels and other systems. The responsibility will include
the development and production of these products (excluding inflators) for
ANA's customers. ANA will also have an overall responsibility for Autoliv's
companies in Mexico and Japan. Brad Murray, Vice President Japan and Korea
ASP Programs, has been appointed President of this group. Gustaf Celsing
remains in his position as Vice President North American Programs.
Autoliv Inflators (ALI) will be responsible for development of inflators
and associated products. ALI will be globally responsible for coordinating
the inflator activities of the Autoliv Group. In addition to Autoliv's three
inflator facilities in the United States, ALI will therefore include Livbag
and NCS in France, Autoflator in Sweden and the Group's inflator operations in
Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Thomas Hartman, currently Vice President
Operations of Autoliv ASP, has been named President for ALI.
Autoliv North American Components (ANC) will be responsible for internal
supply of textile cushions for airbag systems, lead wires and other key
components that Autoliv currently manufactures or plans to manufacture.
Jacques Croisetiere, who will remain in his current position as Chief
Financial Officer of Autoliv ASP, has been appointed President for this group.
"With this organisational change we will be more customer oriented and
cost efficient. Shorter communication lines and faster feed back will give us
even better possibilities to service our North American and Japanese
customers," explained Gunnar Bark, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the
Autoliv Inc. Group.
Autoliv Inc. manufactures airbags for driver, passenger and side-impact
applications, knee bolsters, seat belts, pretensioners, steering wheels, seat
components, sensors and electronics for virtually all major automotive
manufacturers in the world. Autoliv Inc. has 60 wholly-owned subsidiaries and
joint ventures with 17,000 employees in 28 vehicle-producing countries. Sales
in 1996 totaled US $3.2 billion and net income US $174 million. The company's
shares are listed on the New York Stock Exchange , its Swedish
Depository Receipts on the Stockholm Stock Exchange (SSE: ALIV) and its stock
