    FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich., Dec. 2 -- Farmington Hills based
Tachi-S Engineering U.S.A., Inc., a supplier of automotive seating, recently
was approved for accreditation by the American Association for Laboratory
Accreditation (A2LA) in the mechanical field of testing.
    "This is a huge accomplishment, one that Tachi-S Engineering employees
have worked hard to achieve," said Gunn Hurite, manager of testing and
prototype departments.  "Being A2LA accredited defines competence both
nationally and internationally.  By earning this accreditation we are showing
our customers and industry that we are committed to excellence in the testing
of automotive seating systems and components."
    A2LA is a nonprofit, nongovernmental, public service, membership society
accrediting all types of technical laboratories for their competence.
Laboratory accreditation is based on internationally accepted criteria for
competence (ISO/IEC Guide 58, Calibration and Testing Laboratory Accreditation
Systems - General Requirements for Operation and Recognition) and registration
is based on ISO 9000.  Laboratory performance in proficiency testing is
continually monitored and a formal review or laboratory performance is
conducted every year.
    Tachi-S Engineering currently supplies design, engineering, prototype, and
testing services for automotive seating systems to OEMs and Tier I suppliers.
