Eight Japanese Automakers to Meet with U.S. Automotive Tool And Equipment Manufacturers in CaliforniaAnnual Meeting Represents Continued Industry-to-Industry Cooperation WASHINGTON, Dec. 1 -- All major Japanese automakers will meet in California with U.S. automotive tool and equipment manufacturers to exchange information enhancing the servicing of 1998 model vehicles. This annual "Japanese Technical Week," December 2-4, is being held in Torrance. "Japanese Technical Week," co-sponsored by the Japan Automobile. Manufacturers Association (JAMA) and the Equipment and Tool Institute (ETI), provides ETI members the opportunity to perform hands-on inspections of 1998 vehicles. "Auto manufacturing is a global industry that prospers with company-to- company cooperation. The tools and equipment needed to service 1998 cars will become available as a result of this meeting thereby benefiting American car owners," said Yoshihiro Yano, Deputy General Director, JAMA USA, Washington, DC. More than 66 ETI members representing 34 companies are expected to participate including experts on performance test equipment, collision repair, wheel service, computer systems, and environmental safety equipment. Honda, Isuzu, Mazda, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Subaru, Suzuki and Toyota will provide technical briefings. Vehicles will be displayed on lifts during the technical meeting. This will be the tenth ETI/JAMA Tech Week and the second time the event is being held in the U.S. The first time was in 1994 when four Japanese automakers presented their new vehicles. ETI, celebrating its 50th anniversary, is the Chicago-based association of international tools and equipment manufacturers.
