Rockwell Mourns the Death of Donald J. YockeyCOSTA MESA, Calif., Nov. 24 -- Donald J. Yockey, 76, former president of Rockwell's Defense and Commercial Electronics businesses, died Nov. 16 in Rancho Mirage, Calif. He will be interned today at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, Calif. "We mourn the loss of Donald Yockey, an outstanding American who served both Rockwell and his country with great distinction, said Donald R. Beall, chairman of the board. "Don made numerous invaluable contributions to Rockwell during his many years as the leader of our defense electronics activities, taking the business to new heights in terms of performance and market leadership. On a personal level, Don was a close friend and wise counsel to me over many years. He was also one of the finest government business executives this country has ever produced. " Yockey served in the U.S. Air Force for 22 years and retired as a Colonel. In 1991 he was appointed by President Bush as Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisitions. He retired in 1994. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jean Yockey, four daughters, two sons-in- law, one sister, 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
