SPX Corporation and Pep Boys Announce Supply Agreement

    MUSKEGON, Mich., Nov. 21 -- SPX Corporation and
Pep Boys today announced they have entered an agreement for SPX to
supply inspection and emissions testing equipment to Pep Boys.
    After an extensive evaluation of a number of potential suppliers, SPX was
chosen for the quality and value of its equipment.  Under terms of the
agreement, SPX will provide equipment to Pep Boys in Pennsylvania and
California where Pep Boys participates in emissions testing programs.
    Commenting on this announcement, Thomas J. Riordan, President SPX
Aftermarket Tool and Equipment Group, said, "We are proud of the outcome of
Pep Boys' extensive evaluation of potential partners.  SPX was clearly the
leader in meeting the uncompromising quality, high performance, and stringent
service needs of Pep Boys."
    According to Joe Risch, Assistant Vice President of Merchandising for Pep
Boys, "This new equipment will certainly enhance our broad service offering
and customer appeal.  When customers have their emissions tested at Pep Boys
they will also be able to have necessary repairs completed."
