Whitman Corporation Announces Quarterly Dividend

    CHICAGO, Nov. 21 -- Whitman Corporation announced today that
its Board of Directors declared a regular quarterly dividend on its common
stock of 11.5 cents a share.  The dividend is payable January 1, 1998, to
shareholders of record on December 12, 1997.
    Whitman Corporation's operating companies are Pepsi-Cola General Bottlers,
Midas International, and Hussmann Corporation.
