Ford Board Elects Doran Vice PresidentDEARBORN, Mich., Nov. 18 -- Wayne Doran, chairman of Ford Motor Land Services Corp., has been elected a Ford vice president effectively immediately, Ford Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Alex Trotman announced today. Formed in 1970 as a real estate development business, Ford Land has grown to become a provider of a full range of global corporate real estate services that range from planning, acquiring, constructing, managing and developing all corporate real estate worldwide. Ford Land also is involved with major real estate developments, including Fairlane, the 2,300-acre planned residential and commercial community in Dearborn. Doran joined Ford in 1969 and became president of Ford Land when it was formed the next year. He became its chairman in 1978. Before joining Ford, Doran served as vice president and general manager of the land development division of Del E. Webb Corp. in Chicago from 1963 to 1969. This year, Ford Land has been involved in a number of major projects, including assembly plants in Thailand and Vietnam, the Dunton (U.K.) Design Centre, expansion of the Fairlane Training and Development Center in Dearborn and the UAW/Ford Joint Training Center in Detroit. Ford Land's five main real estate functions include: Global real estate services. Acquisitions and disposals, site selection and development as well as space planning. Global plant engineering. Engineering and construction of major plants and facilities in addition to addressing environmental issues. Corporate facilities planning. On-going operation and maintenance of Ford facilities, including repair and maintenance, energy management and construction management. Development, sales, leasing, and property management. Development of a broad range of mixed uses to include office, retail, residential and research and development. Energy efficiency and supply.
