Executive Moves at Ford Include Donaldson, Wallace and Mellier in Europe, Bedi to Succeed DonaldsonDEARBORN, Mich., Nov. 14 -- Ford Vice President Jim Donaldson has been elected president - Ford of Europe, effective Jan. 1, 1998. Donaldson will be the senior Ford executive in Europe and will report to Jac Nasser, president - Ford Automotive Operations. Ford Vice President Henry Wallace is named chief financial officer - Ford of Europe and vice president - European Strategic Planning. Wallace previously had been president of Mazda. "This new alignment in Europe uses as a template the business management system in Brazil and Argentina that has shown such favorable results," said Alex Trotman, Ford chairman and chief executive officer. "As we have established the global systems and practices of Ford 2000, we continue to evolve the management system that oversees it so that we can accelerate the benefits of our new way of running the company." In addition, Jim Miller has been elected a vice president of Ford Motor Company. Mazda Motor Corp. earlier announced that Miller would succeed Wallace as president of Mazda. Gurminder Bedi is elected a Ford vice president and succeeds Donaldson as vice president - Truck Vehicle Center. Bedi presently is a vehicle line director in the Truck Vehicle Center. Also, Roman Krygier is elected a Ford vice president. He continues to head Advanced Manufacturing Engineering. Ford vice president for European Sales and Marketing Keith Magee has elected to retire and will be succeeded by Philippe Mellier, who presently is executive director, European Sales Operations. "Keith Magee has had a remarkable and successful career at Ford over the past 26 years," Trotman said. "He has risen to very senior positions in Europe, Lincoln-Mercury, Ford Division and Ford Credit. We wish him well in his retirement." Mellier has headed up Ford marketing, sales and service in European countries other than Britain and Germany and previously had been president - Ford Mexico and managing director - Ford New Zealand. He began his career with Ford France in 1980. Krygier's election as vice president is effective immediately. The other moves are effective Jan. 1, 1998. SOURCE Ford Motor Company
