Toyota Launches Two-Way Virtual Job Board for Dealers and Technician Prospects

TORRANCE, Calif., Nov. 12 -- Toyota Motor Sales, USA (TMS),
Inc., recently launched the Toyota Employment Network. The new system is
designed to connect Toyota dealers and qualified technicians, parts and
customer relations personnel, creating a virtual two-way "help wanted"
billboard.
"One of the reasons Toyota has been a success over the last 40 years in
the U.S. is the quality of our workforce," said Roger Foss, TMS national body
shop business development and technician recruiting manager. "The Toyota
Employment Network will add to that strength by ensuring that Toyota and Lexus
dealers are staffed with the very finest candidates."
All Toyota and Lexus dealers have access to the Net, and may post open
positions at any time. Once a job is posted, the system immediately
determines if any current resumes on file meet the criteria. Potential
candidates can then be contacted by e-mail or directly by telephone. Dealers
may also search the Net for applicants with specific skills such as a two-year
degree, five years of Toyota dealership experience or an ASE certification in
engine repair. Dealers may also search by looking for key-words in
applicants' resumes such as "transmission" or "diagnostic skills". Each job
posting remains on the system for 60 days.
Potential job applicants may browse any open position on the Toyota
Employment Network. By posting their resumes directly to the Net, they
significantly increase their chances of getting a job at a Toyota or Lexus
dealership.
The Employment Net was formally launched on Sept. 10, 1997. The Net is
an initiative of the successful Toyota Technical Education Network (T-TEN) and
is available to both dealers and candidates at no charge. T-TEN is a leader
in industry/education partnerships. The T-TEN automotive technician training
program is currently offered at 55 of the best post-secondary vocational
schools, community colleges and universities across the US.
The Toyota Employment Network can be accessed from the T-TEN Web site at
http://www.t-ten.com or directly at http://www.toyotaemployment.com.
