BDM Relocates Detroit-Area Automotive Center of Excellence

LIVONIA, Mich., Nov. 11 -- BDM International, Inc. (BDM)
, a multinational information technology company, announced
today the relocation of its Automotive Center of Excellence facility from
Dearborn, Michigan, to the Laurel Park business district in Livonia, Michigan.
The center is designed to help Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and
Tier One/Tier Two automotive suppliers improve cost, quality, and time metrics
across their entire supply chain through technology-enabled, end-to-end
business solutions. The Automotive Center of Excellence includes a training
center, a video facility that features the Oracle Channel, the Technology
Center for Integrated Supply Chain Solutions, and other management programs.
"The Automotive Center of Excellence was established to serve the
automotive industry by providing global solutions to cost reductions for
companies developing world cars and components. The center will assist
multinational companies in linking everyone along the supply chain," said
Christopher Welker, Vice President of BDM's Enterprise Planning and Management
solutions operating unit.
"BDM helps clients manage their supply chains by eliminating labor
intensive processes and implementing information technology to create highly
responsive 'nerve centers.' The nerve centers can link suppliers and
manufacturers, divisions and departments, and manufacturing and distribution
so that companies can respond quickly and effectively to the end customer
needs," said Welker.
BDM works with automotive clients to replace barriers between trading
partners with electronic information exchange and other technologies that
improve processes for mutual gain. Furthermore, the Company assists its
clients in finding ways to streamline processes, gain efficiencies, and build
flexibility into their supply and distribution channels.
While in Dearborn, BDM's Automotive Center of Excellence provided Ford
Motor Company with maintenance and enhancement support to the legacy systems
for its Electronics Division, now part of Visteon, and developed client/server
information systems that are still in use at Ford today. The Global
Operational Financial Information System, developed by BDM, led to a "Systems
Excellence" award.
"In order to successfully implement chosen supply chain management
systems, BDM helps organizations rethink many traditional processes and how
they work together to share information with other organizations in the supply
chain," said Welker.
BDM's enterprise resource planning services enable companies to capitalize
on their full market potential and reap the benefits of a synergistic approach
that integrates people, processes, and technology across the enterprise. BDM
embeds smart processes and sophisticated tools within and across key functions
to improve business results and reduce operating costs. BDM's portfolio of
capabilities extends to both discrete and process manufacturing enterprises to
ensure continuous process improvement in a client's environment.
Additionally, BDM integrates warehousing operations with the manufacturing
operations to improve the material flow from warehousing to the shop floor.
BDM's warehouse management systems and services enable increased efficiency of
the floor personnel within the warehouse, gains in space utilization, and
increased inventory turnover.
BDM's new Laurel Park, Michigan, offices are located at 17390 Laurel Park
Drive North, Suite 300, Livonia, Michigan, 48152. The telephone and facsimile
