BancAmerica Robertson Stephens Initiates Coverage on United Auto Group

    SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 11 -- BancAmerica Robertson Stephens
research analyst Jordan Hymowitz initiated coverage today on United Auto
Group, Inc. with a Market Performer rating.  His EPS estimate for
1997 is $1.40 and for 1998 is $1.70.
    Based in New York City, UAG is the second largest dealer group in the
United States and operates 55 franchises in 12 states.  The company went
public in October 1996 and has acquired approximately $2.6 billion in revenues
(excluding pending acquisitions).  United Auto Care (a captive warranty
provider) and Atlantic Auto Finance (a captive auto finance division that
targets prime credit borrowers) are also part of the United Auto Group.
