Detroit Diesel and ERF Announce the Release of Series 60(R) Engine Into the European Heavy Truck MarketDETROIT, Nov. 11 -- Detroit Diesel Corporation (DDC) and ERF Ltd. announced the release of the l2.7L Detroit Diesel Series 60 engine in ERF's EC Series Heavy Duty Cabover design trucks for use in the United Kingdom. The Series 60 engine is also fitted to Australian versions of the truck which are sold by ERF's parent company, Western Star Trucks of Kelowna, British Columbia, as the Western Star "Commander" Series. The Series 60 engine is now available in ERF trucks with ratings of 370, 430 and 500 horsepower and complies fully with stringent Euro II emission and noise regulations in addition to EPA and Australian (ADR) standards as required. The release of the Series 60 engine follows a highly successful demonstration program involving ten trucks in the United Kingdom, where exceptional fuel economy, engine response and reliability were reported.
