Bell & Howell Enables Western Star Dealers to Electronically Access Caterpillar Engine Data

CLEVELAND, Nov. 5 -- Western Star truck dealers will soon be
able to access Caterpillar engine catalog data on their Bell & Howell
electronic parts catalog (EPC), eliminating the need to maintain multiple
catalog sets within their parts departments. Bell & Howell Publication
Systems Company, a business unit of Bell & Howell Company , plans
to release the new Caterpillar EPC data to Western Star dealerships in the
U.S. and Canada in early 1998.
"Specifying parts for heavy-duty truck engines is a critical and demanding
job," explained Frederick (Ted) Fellowes, Vice President of Automotive/Truck
at Bell & Howell. "The addition of this new data will provide users with
instant access to vital Caterpillar Engine catalog data, not previously
included in the Western Star Truck EPC."
The Caterpillar add-on to the Bell & Howell Western Star EPC will contain
parts catalogs for models 3126, 3306, 3176, 3406, C10 and C12 heavy duty truck
engines. Entry of a Western Star serial number displays the vehicle
statistics screen which already contains the engine model number and serial
number. Users will simply click on the Engine tab to access the Caterpillar
engine parts catalog data with the serial and arrangement numbers already set.
"The efficiencies dealers can realize from quick access to this critical
data are tremendous," noted Fellowes. "And, for those dealers already using
the Bell & Howell Western Star EPC, no additional hardware will need to be
purchased." Updated Caterpillar data will be delivered to subscribers on a
quarterly basis.
Bell & Howell is the nation's largest provider of electronic parts
catalogs to automotive dealerships, currently serving General Motors, Chrysler
Motors, Ford, Toyota, Mercedes-Benz, Nissan, Honda, Acura, Volvo, Subaru,

accomplishing in seconds tasks which previously consumed many valuable
minutes.
