Meritor Automotive Selects Oracle Automotive(TM) for Global ERP Implementation

Oracle Automotive Expertise, Service Drives Selection

DETROIT, Nov. 4 -- Oracle Corp. today
announced that Meritor Automotive, the new $3.1 billion company that was
formerly Rockwell International Corporation's Automotive business, has
selected Oracle Automotive(TM) as the integrated global ERP system for its
Heavy Vehicles Systems business. The Oracle Automotive solution is expected
to streamline and standardize business processes worldwide, and speed
decision-making by providing online access to timely, accurate enterprise
data. Oracle Consulting Services(SM) is leading the implementation project at
17 Meritor sites around the world, with the first phase slated to go live in
May 1998.
Oracle Automotive will replace existing mainframe-based systems around the
world to streamline access to accurate global information. Oracle Automotive
provides the flexibility to rapidly adapt business processes to meet market
and customer demands as well as support for multiple languages and currencies,
including the coming European Monetary Unit (EMU), the Euro. The global
Oracle implementation is anticipated to help Meritor further standardize
business processes worldwide, enabling Meritor to more rapidly accommodate
growth as the company pursues its business objective.

Industry Expertise, Web-Deployment, Integration with Third-Party Packages
Meritor selected Oracle because of its knowledge of the needs of the
automotive market, its service, expertise and close integration with the
industry-standard Oracle data server. Oracle(R) Web-deployed applications
were also a key feature to meet the growing need in the automotive industry
for open commerce and communication among customers, suppliers and others.
Also key to the selection was Oracle Automotive's integration with Radley
Corporation's CARaS product, enabling Automotive EDI transactions to integrate
directly with the Oracle applications to manage trading partner CUMs and
generate advanced ship notices, shipment documentation and electronic
invoices. The Oracle Automotive system will also integrate with Meritor's
Thru-Put Resonance scheduling and planning package to enable quick response to
changes throughout the supply chain.
With the combination of Oracle Automotive, Thru-Put Resonance and Radley
CARaS, Meritor expects to realize significant cost reductions through further
improvements material flow, added reductions in inventory, tighter integration
of supply chain linkages throughout the world and better global visibility
into enterprise data for improved and more speedy decision-making.
"Oracle continues to expand and enhance its commitment to the Automotive
