Nissan Division Reports October Sales

    CARSON, Calif., Nov. 3 -_ The Nissan Division of Nissan Motor
Corporation U.S.A. (NMC) posted October sales of 45,438 units, up 1.3 percent
over prior year.  Calendar year-to-date sales for Nissan Division totaled
574,544 units.
    October sales for the Nissan Altima were 8,584 units, up 29.5 percent
versus last year.  The Nissan Maxima reported sales of 9,170 units, and the
Nissan Sentra reported sales of 7,029 units.  Total sedan sales for October
were 24,783 units.
    Nissan Truck turned in sales of 9,431 units, up 32.3 percent over last
year.  With unit sales of 3,601, the Nissan Quest was up 1.4 percent over last
year.  The Nissan Pathfinder reported sales of 5,650.  Combined October sales
of the Truck, Quest and Pathfinder were 18,682 units, up 6.6 percent over last
year.  Calendar year-to-date sales for Truck, Pathfinder and Quest were
206,944, up 1.2 percent.
    Sales of Nissan's North American-produced vehicles for October totaled
30,308 units, which represents 66.7 percent of all Nissan vehicles sold in the
United States.  Total NMC sales for October, including Nissan and Infiniti
Divisions, were 51,070 units, up 4.0 percent over last year.  Combined
calendar year-to-date sales for Nissan and Infiniti Divisions were 629,435
units.
    Nissan Motor Corporation U.S.A., which includes the Infiniti luxury
division, markets and distributes Nissan and Infiniti vehicles in the United
States to more than 1,200 dealers.

    Note:  All numbers include Hawaii.  Percentage changes based on DSR.
