Porsche Cars North America to Relocate Headquarters to AtlantaNorth American Parts Distribution Facility and Service Training Center Remain in Reno RENO, Nev., Nov. 3 -- Porsche Cars North America, Inc. (PCNA), the exclusive importer of Porsche cars and parts for the United States and Canada, today announced it will relocate its administrative headquarters from here to Atlanta. PCNA will begin operating March 1, 1998, from its new 32,000-sq.-ft.-headquarters site. Since its creation in 1984, PCNA has been based in Reno. In addition to being the site of its headquarters, Reno has also been the location of PCNA'S national Parts Distribution Center and one of its three Service Training Centers. The latter two facilities will remain at their Reno locations. "Reno has been our home," stated Frederick J. Schwab, PCNA President and CEO, in making the announcement. "We have raised our families here. We like it here. The community has embraced us and we the community. "However, as we are the only European automobile importer not headquartered in the Eastern time zone, we are at a competitive disadvantage. As our business continues to expand, we need to improve our communication and integration with our parent company in Germany. "Atlanta was chosen for its Eastern locale, excellent domestic and international air connections, cost of living, climate, and proximity to our Pre Delivery Inspection facility in Charleston, S.C., a facility which will be of even greater importance as our volume grows." The relocation affects approximately 100 employees, more than a third of whom have been asked to remain with PCNA. The Atlanta headquarters is expected to employ 90 individuals with an annual $8 payroll. SOURCE Porsche Cars North America, Inc.
