ADI Wins Major Contract Award

ADI Wins Major Contract AwardANN ARBOR, Mich., Nov. 3 -- Applied Dynamics International (ADI, Ann Arbor, MI) and United Defense Limited Partnership (UDLP, Minneapolis, MN) today announced that ADI has been selected to provide a total of twenty-two SIMsystems to UDLP, in support of the Crusader System. UDLP is the prime contractor to the US Army for the Crusader, a two-vehicle armament system comprised of a self-propelled battlefield vehicle and a resupply vehicle. The value of the ADI contract is in excess of $3 million. ADI credits its win in this competitive procurement to the recent advances in its standard SIMsystem product line. This includes the BRIDGErt for SystemBuild and ADI's new ADvantage Integrated Development Environment (IDE) which combine to provide a simplified and consistent user environment for model migration to the hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation activity. Further, ADI offers the software infrastructure to handle the challenges of allocating the variety of resources across a number of systems while also accommodating any changes in system requirements. ADI already supports most of the required interfaces for the Crusader project, thereby minimizing additional development tasks. The Crusader program requires a variety of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) VME-based emulator systems for use in control system rapid prototyping, HIL testing, and real-time simulation and emulation. Sixteen different emulator configurations are needed to meet the various I/O requirements, including analog, digital, and bus interfaces as well as integration of satellite-based timing signals. Finally, each system will contain the compute power and software to seamlessly migrate models created with the Integrated Systems, Inc., MATRIXx(TM)/SystemBuild(TM) software to the real-time HIL execution. Deliveries commence in December and will be completed in February of 1998. ADI will also provide training as well as on-going engineering support to UDLP. Applied Dynamics International provides hardware, software, and engineering services for embedded software developers and control system engineers. Since 1957, ADI real-time computer systems have been used extensively in advanced control system applications in the aerospace, defense, training, and automotive industries.
