Mercury Donates a 1998 Mountaineer Tread Lightly! Raffles a Mountaineer for Fund RaiserOGDEN, Utah, Oct. 30, -- Mercury joins Tread Lightly!'s elite Official Sponsor list. The division has donated a 1998 Mountaineer. The sport utility vehicle is being used as a partnership between Tread Lightly! and the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History for fund raising to benefit both organizations. Lincoln-Mercury, a division of Ford Motor Company became a sponsor of the organization after successfully launching the Mercury Mountaineer. "The Mountaineer is an environmentally responsible sport utility vehicle with 80% of its components which can be recycled, making it a good model for Tread Lightly! and its members," says Anne Doyle, Public Affairs Manager of Lincoln-Mercury. "With its V-6 engine and all wheel drive capabilities, Mountaineer encourages people to enjoy the great outdoors." "This is the first time an Official Sponsor has donated a vehicle for a raffle. It's a great way to generate funds to further its education message," says Lori McNeely, Executive Director for Tread Lightly! The Mountaineer is on display during the month of October at the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History and will be given away on November 7. Five hundred chances will be made available at $100 per chance. Grand prize will be the 1998, fully loaded, emerald green Mountaineer. The Mountaineer is environmentally responsible with 80% of its components which can be recycled. This sport utility vehicle is a five speed automatic with a V-6 engine. It features a control trac 4x4 system and moonroof. Second prize will be $500 cash and $200 cash will be awarded to the third and fourth place winners.
