Meritor Automotive Selects EAI's VisFly for Product Visualization and Easy Access to Digital Models Throughout Company
EAI's VisFly software integrates with PDM system to provide product
visualization and design collaboration on digital models
AMES, Iowa, Oct. 28 -- Engineering Animation, Inc.
, announced today that Meritor Automotive , formerly
Rockwell Automotive, has selected EAI's VisFly(TM) 3D product visualization
software to enable departments throughout the company to easily access, view
and mark up digital product models. VisFly, with EAI's new add-on
capabilities for 2D image viewing, will be deployed throughout Meritor on
Windows and Unix platforms as part of a significant contract to implement
EAI's software enterprise-wide.
Meritor chose EAI's solution to help shorten the interval from concept to
mass production by allowing the delivery of real-time product design data to
departments throughout Meritor, including manufacturing, planning, engineering
and sales. The combination of VisFly and EAI's add-on 2D image viewing
solution will provide Meritor with an integrated solution for viewing 2D and
3D information. As a part of the Meritor agreement, EAI's VisFly system will
be tightly integrated with Adra System's product data management (PDM)
solution, Matrix.
"A key factor in Meritor's decision was VisFly's ability to easily
integrate legacy data and display even proprietary data formats," said Mike
Jablo, EAI vice president of software sales and marketing.
Jablo also noted that VisFly's availability on Windows and Unix
environments will allow Meritor to take full advantage of EAI's 3D technology
to seamlessly merge engineering, manufacturing and business functions.
"People working on the Windows and Unix environments at Meritor can
collaborate during the product development process by interacting with complex
CAD designs in real time, resolving product design issues before costly
redevelopment efforts are required," said Jablo. "VisFly will enable various
departments, plants and Meritor partners to visually communicate with digital
products, making product data easily accessible throughout the company."
In addition to VisFly, the visualization solution EAI will provide to
Meritor includes collaboration capabilities, which will enable multiple users
to interact with complete 3D digital models and analyze them in real time.
VisFly's add-on 2D image viewing capabilities will allow for integration of 2D
and 3D data within the same visual environment. Users will have the ability
to view 2D drawings and easily compare and analyze the differences in drawing
versions.
EAI works in close partnership with a variety of PDM companies to
integrate its VisProducts software with PDM systems, delivering seamless data
integration that can be communicated throughout a company in an easy-to-use 3D
visual environment.
