UT Automotive Names Alan Winslow President, Asia Pacific OperationsDEARBORN, Mich., Oct. 24 -- UT Automotive, a United Technologies company, has named Alan Winslow president of its Asia Pacific Operations (APO). As UT Automotive's first APO president, Winslow will be responsible for all aspects of UT Automotive's growing operations throughout the Asian-Pacific region. "Al Winslow's appointment demonstrates the company's commitment to both the Asian market and to our customers in Asia," UT Automotive President Scott Greer said. "His 30 years in the automotive industry, pan-Asian business development experience and key general management, manufacturing and operations assignments uniquely qualify him for this important leadership position as UT Automotive expands its Asian business interests." Winslow said, "I am very excited about coming to UT Automotive and expanding our business opportunities in the Asia-Pacific region. It's no secret that automakers are focusing on the growth opportunities available in Asia, and it's important that we continue to move aggressively into these markets." UT Automotive's sales to Asian-based automakers alone have more than tripled over the past four years, and the company is taking steps to expand its operations through a number of joint ventures and partnerships. UT Automotive has signed four such agreements with Asian companies over the past two years, including two in China. UT Automotive has nearly 3,000 employees in Asia, including more than 2,500 working at three facilities and an engineering center in Cebu, Philippines. In addition, the company has sales, engineering and marketing centers in China, Japan and South Korea. "We look forward to continuing to increase our presence in Asia, and having Al's full input on future opportunities for our Asia Pacific Operations," Greer said. Winslow has lived extensively in Asia during his 30-year automotive career. He joined UT Automotive from Lucas Varity Corp., where most recently he was vice president, Asia Pacific Light Braking Systems. Before joining Lucas Varity, Winslow spent 20 years with Allied Signal Automotive, including his final assignment as vice president, Asia Pacific. He also served five years as president and general manager for Allied Bendix's Toledo Stamping Division. Winslow has a bachelor's degree from DePauw University in Indiana. Winslow will have offices in both Tokyo and Singapore. He and his wife, Diona, will reside in Asia following an extensive orientation on UT Automotive's Americas and European business operations. Greer said further strategy on UT Automotive's Asia Pacific Operations will be announced as plans progress.
