Hayes Wheels Announces Name Change

Hayes Wheels International, Inc. Changes Name To Hayes Lemmerz International, Inc.; Elects Three to Board of Directors

    ROMULUS, Mich., Oct. 23 -- Hayes Wheels International, Inc.
held its annual shareholders meeting yesterday and formally
approved the change of its name to Hayes Lemmerz International, Inc.  The name
change follows the company's acquisition of Lemmerz Holding GmbH, Europe's
leading full-line wheel manufacturer, which was completed on June 30, 1997.
As a result, Lemmerz became a wholly owned subsidiary of the company.
    Also at the meeting, Timothy J. Clark, Horst Kukwa-Lemmerz and Jeffrey
Lightcap were elected directors of the company, to serve for three-year terms.
    Hayes Lemmerz International, with annual sales of over $1.4 billion, is
the world's largest wheel manufacturer and is a world leader in the design,
engineering and manufacture of steel and aluminum wheels and brake drums and
rotors for the automotive and commercial highway markets in North America,
Europe and Asia.
