Budget Names VP, International Business Development and Corporate VP & Managing Director, Europe, Middle East & Africa

    LISLE, Ill., Oct. 21 -- Budget Rent a Car Corporation, a
wholly owned subsidiary of Budget Group, Inc. , has appointed Peter
Giamalva, 43, vice president, International Business Development and Ron
Norbut, 51, corporate vice president and managing director of the Europe,
Middle East and Africa region.
    In the newly-created role of vice president, International Business
development, at the world's third largest car rental company, Giamalva will
focus on growing Budget's international outbound markets.  He also will be
responsible for developing and directing Budget's international products, such
as Budget World Travel Plan, Business Traveller and Go Budget.  In addition,
Giamalva will spearhead the business strategy, development and implementation
for international travel agents and tour operators.  His new position becomes
effective January 1, 1998.
    Giamalva has been with Budget since 1990 in a variety of roles ranging
from vice president of Travel Industry Marketing and vice president of Sales
to his most recent position as vice president and managing director of the
Europe, Middle East and Africa region.
    Prior to joining Budget in August of 1990, Giamalva was vice president of
marketing for GWV International from 1988 to 1990 and vice president of
marketing for Apple Vacations between 1985 and 1988.
    Norbut replaces Giamalva as corporate vice president and managing director
of the Europe, Middle East and Africa region, effective January 1, 1998.  His
responsibilities include overseeing all regional operations, finance,
marketing and sales functions as well as directing corporate-owned rental
locations in the UK, France and Switzerland. He also will direct franchise
network development throughout the EMEA region.
    Norbut most recently served as vice president and general manager, Pacific
Coast Region for Budget Rent a Car Corporation and vice president and general
manager of the Western Region for Team Rental Group (now known as Budget
Group, Inc.).  He also was instrumental in the Budget Group acquisition of
Budget Rent a Car Corporation, completed in April of 1997.
    Prior to joining Budget, Norbut spent 30 years with Avis in a number of
operational positions, ranging from regional fleet manager in a number of U.S.
cities to zone manager of Hawaii.
