Meritor Automotive Names Eggert Senior Vice President Operations For its Heavy Vehicle Systems Business

    TROY, Mich., Oct. 20 -- Glenn J. Eggert has been appointed
senior vice president, operations, for the Heavy Vehicle Systems (HVS)
business, of Meritor Automotive, Inc., , the new $3.1 billion
company formerly Rockwell International Corporation's Automotive business.
Eggert will report on an interim basis to Larry Yost, chairman and chief
executive officer, of Meritor, who is also acting president of HVS.
    In his new post, Eggert is responsible for the HVS business worldwide
manufacturing processes and facilities, manufacturing engineering, product
industrialization, materials and logistics, procurement, quality, and
environmental and safety initiatives.
     Prior to this appointment Eggert was vice president, operations, for HVS,
a position he had held since May 1996.  Eggert joined Meritor in 1996 when it
was the Automotive business of Rockwell International.  Eggert joined Rockwell
in 1978 and spent more than 17 years with its Automation business.  He served
as vice president, operations, for the Industrial Control Group of Rockwell's
Automation business from 1988 until 1996.
    Prior to joining Rockwell, Eggert worked for Battelle Columbus Labs and
Rexnord Corporation.
    Eggert holds bachelor's and master's degrees in mechanical engineering
from the University of Wisconsin.  He is a member of the Society of
Manufacturing Engineers, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and the
Association of Manufacturing Excellence.
