IndustryWeek Names Aeroquip's New Haven, Indiana, Facility One of 'America's Best Plants'MAUMEE, Ohio, Oct. 17 -_ IndustryWeek magazine has selected Aeroquip Corporation's air conditioning and refrigeration products facility in New Haven, Indiana, as one of "America's Best Plants." Aeroquip is a subsidiary of Aeroquip-Vickers, Inc. . Aeroquip's New Haven facility is among only 10 manufacturing facilities from across North American industry to achieve this top level of manufacturing success. A general business publication with 800,000 readers, IndustryWeek will profile the Aeroquip New Haven facility in its October 20 issue, which will highlight achievements of this year's 10 best plants. Presentation of the award to Aeroquip will be made by IndustryWeek on October 30 in New Haven. "The rest of the world now knows what we've known for some time _- Aeroquip New Haven is one of the best manufacturing facilities in North America," said Darryl F. Allen, Aeroquip-Vickers chairman, president and chief executive officer. "It is a tribute to the management and employees of the New Haven facility to be so honored, and to the management of Aeroquip which has guided the growth of this facility since its opening in 1991." The Aeroquip New Haven facility offers expertise in designing, manufacturing and testing a wide variety of products and services for air conditioning and refrigeration systems. Its products include various styles of quick-connect couplings, valves, flow control devices and other products used by manufacturers and installers of air conditioning systems for homes, factories and office buildings. Among the facility's customers are Carrier Corporation, International Comfort Products Corporation, Lennox Industries, Nordyne Inc., Rheem Manufacturing Company, The Trane Company and York International Corporation. The Aeroquip facility was chosen as one of the 1997 best plants in a two- stage selection process. Included were evaluation of a 20-page questionnaire and judging by a panel of IndustryWeek editors, who narrowed the field from a record 275 nominations to 25 finalists. The final 10 winners were then selected, following completion of a follow-up questionnaire and site-visit validation. Aeroquip's New Haven facility is one of only two plants in the IndustryWeek competition's eight-year history to be named a finalist for three consecutive years. Recently, Aeroquip-Vickers, Inc. was also named one the World's 100 Best- Managed Companies by IndustryWeek.
