Michelin Announces New C3M Facility in Reno, NV

RENO, Nev., Oct. 16 -- Michelin North America announced today
that it has begun producing radial passenger tires at a new facility in Reno,
NV, utilizing the company's manufacturing process called C3M. The
announcement was made today in Reno by Jim Morton, Vice President Public
Relations, Michelin North America.
This is the second C3M plant Michelin has established in North America.
It will be producing tires primarily for distribution in the Western United
States.
In Mr. Morton's comments at a breakfast meeting of the Economic Development
Authority of Western Nevada (EDAWN), he stated that this advanced technology
will enable Michelin to react more quickly to our customers and market
demands. Additionally, C3M is an environmentally friendly manufacturing
process, which uses substantially less energy and requires less manufacturing
space.
Tires manufactured using the C3M process meet the same quality and
performance levels of other Michelin tires. In fact, tires made with the
C3M process are fully interchangeable with tires using traditional tire
manufacturing methods. And, with the exception of a few minor cosmetic
differences, tires manufactured with the C3M process look like traditional
Michelin radial tires.
Michelin manufactures and sells tires for every type of vehicle -- from
bicycles to trucks, from automobile to the space shuttle, from agriculture to
earthmover. Michelin North America is headquartered in Greenville, S.C., and
employs 23,000 and operates 21 plants.
