BDM Adds New Contracts to Implement BAAN IV Using Automotive Supplier Reference ModelMCLEAN, Va., Oct. 14 -- BDM International, Inc. (BDM) , a multinational information technology company, today announced it has been awarded two new contracts with Zenith Industrial Corporation and with another Tier One supplier to the automotive industry to implement The Baan Company's BAAN IV enterprise business software. The announcement was made by Dave Patterson, President of BDM's Integrated Supply Chain Solutions strategic business unit. The implementations will be based on the Automotive Supplier Reference Model, which was developed in conjunction with BDM, Baan Business Innovation (BBI), and Pilot Industries (a Tier One supplier of fuel delivery systems to the automotive industry). The Automotive Supplier Reference Model is available as a component of Orgware, a key element of the BAAN IV product family. Orgware includes tools, templates, and methodologies to enable a rapid, flexible, and effective implementation. BDM is working with Baan to drive down the complexity of enterprise client/server implementations and to bring a new capability called Dynamic Enterprise Modeling (DEM) to the automotive industry. DEM extends the traditional Enterprise Resource Planning Model by enabling rapid modeling and updating of the business model while ensuring that the information technology environment and the business model are in alignment. "We are excited that Zenith and our second Tier One company, two predominant automotive suppliers, have recognized the strengths BDM brings as a leader in the automotive sector," said Patterson. Zenith is a principal Tier One automotive supplier of metal stampings and assemblies to the automotive industry. "BDM was selected as our implementation partner to execute BAAN IV because of their strengths in developing the Automotive Supplier Reference Model," said Gary Fish, CFO and Program Sponsor at Zenith Industrial Corporation. BDM's services to Zenith Industrial Corporation include consulting in the following areas: detailed training of the customer on the product using its proprietary INSystems training program; performing a gap analysis with the customer comparing the Automotive Reference Model process templates; and assisting the customer in data migration and full simulation of the Baan solution. BDM's services to the second Tier One supplier include: performing a gap analysis with the customer comparing the Automotive Reference Model process templates; assisting the customer in data migration and full simulation of the Baan solution; and detailed training using both traditional Baan training and BDM's proprietary INSystems training program. The Baan Company delivers its comprehensive enterprise-wide business management software to companies requiring best-in-class manufacturing capabilities.
