Change Your Oil, Change a Mind Dallas

DALLAS, Oct. 14 -- In honor of National Car Care month
scheduled for October, the Automotive Oil Change Association (AOCA) and its
members are announcing the creation of an Education Scholarship Fund,
benefiting employees of local lube centers. Launching on Saturday, Oct. 18,
participating lube centers will donate $1 to the fund for every oil change
that occurs that day.
"We're hoping this scholarship fund will not only help provide continued
education for lube center employees, but also create public awareness about
the commitment of independent lube centers to their employees, education, and
to the community," said Steve Christie, executive director of AOCA. The
purpose of the campaign, called CHANGE YOUR OIL, CHANGE A MIND, is to provide
employees at lube centers around the country an opportunity to further their
education. Scholarship funds can be used toward trade schools, community
college, as well as four-year colleges and universities.
"As the automotive industry continues to evolve and become more
competitive and high-tech, it's important that our service technicians are
properly trained and educated," Christie said. "This education fund will
hopefully create awareness within the community about proper car maintenance,
as well as contribute to the education of deserving technicians."
Headquartered in Dallas, the Automotive Oil Change Association is a
nonprofit trade association dedicated to enhancing the competency of the
national/international fast lube owners, advancing the knowledge and
efficiency of each member, and educating the public for a better understanding
of the need for automotive maintenance.
