Autocam Announces Plans to Purchase Brazilian Manufacturers

KENTWOOD, Mich., Oct. 8 -- Kentwood, Michigan-based Autocam
Corporation today announced that it has signed a letter of
intent to purchase controlling interests in the businesses of Target Industria
E Comercio Ltda. and Qualipart Industria E Comercio Ltda., affiliated
Brazilian manufacturers of precision-machined metal components, with
operations in Campinas and Pinhal, Brazil. Combined annual sales, primarily
consisting of gasoline and diesel fuel injector components to leading global
automotive and heavy construction original equipment manufacturers and their
tier-one suppliers, approximate $15 million.
"By purchasing Target and Qualipart, we have further strengthened our
relationship with three key customers, and have established a manufacturing
presence in an emerging automotive market," President John C. Kennedy said.
"This acquisition is consistent with one of our strategic objectives --
becoming a dominant, world-wide manufacturer of fuel systems components."
The Company expects its due diligence process and a final determination of
the purchase price to be completed before December 1, 1997. Its investment in
the companies is expected to be financed through bank borrowings and notes
issued to the seller. Kennedy indicated that he expects the acquisition to be
slightly accretive to earnings immediately, and gain momentum as the Company
receives additional business in this new market.

financial results. Actual results may differ materially as a result of
factors over which the Company has no control. These risk factors and
additional information are included in the Company's reports on Form 10-K on
