Andre Villeneuve Elected to UTC Board of DirectorsHARTFORD, Conn., Oct. 6 -- Andre Villeneuve, 52, executive director of Reuters Holdings Plc, has been elected to the Board of Directors of United Technologies Corporation. Reuters is a worldwide news, information and financial services business with headquarters in the United Kingdom. UTC Chairman and CEO George David said, "We value the truly global reach of Andre's business experiences and accomplishments. We look forward indeed to having him on the board." Villeneuve has headed Reuters' three operating units globally since 1991, and has been a member of the board since 1988. He has been chairman of Instinet Inc., a U.S. subsidiary of Reuters, as well as responsible for new business development, particularly in the fields of health care and credit. After joining Reuters in 1967, Villeneuve served in various positions in Europe and North America, and was named manager, Reuters Europe, in 1981. He managed the company's business in North America from 1983 to 1991, taking charge of Latin America as well in 1989, and became president, Reuters Asia in 1991. He earned his bachelor of arts degree in politics, philosophy and economics from The Queen's College, Oxford University, in 1967. Villeneuve is also a non-executive director of Commercial Union Plc.
