GenCorp Names Barry Rosenbaum Director of Corporate Technology

    FAIRLAWN, Ohio, Oct. 6 -- GenCorp Inc. today
announced the appointment of Dr. Barry Rosenbaum to the position of Director,
Corporate Technology.  In this role, Rosenbaum will lead the Corporation's
applications and technology development activities based in Akron, Ohio and
play a broader role to commercialize high impact, technology-enabled business
opportunities working in partnership with GenCorp's business units.
    Rosenbaum joins GenCorp from Advanced Elastomer Systems (AES) where he
headed Technology and later, the Special Projects organization.  He was one of
the founding business leaders of AES in 1991.  Prior to AES, Rosenbaum worked
for Exxon Chemical for 25 years, most recently as General Manager of its EPDM
rubber business in Europe from 1986 to 1990.  He held other technical
leadership positions for Exxon including Manager of its Butyl and EPDM
Polymers Technology.  He also helped lead manufacturing start-up of an EPDM
rubber plant in Normandy, France.
    "Dr. Rosenbaum has managed businesses, led technology and manufacturing
organizations in the U.S. and abroad, and has been responsible for injecting
new technology into a high-growth, applications-intensive global polymers
business," said Nathaniel Mass, Sr. Vice President of Strategic Growth for
GenCorp.  "His experience and creative insight will enable us to better
leverage our core technical competencies in support of business strategies
that create industry leadership positions for our products."
    Rosenbaum  holds a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from The Cooper Union and
an M.S. and Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Northwestern University.
