Audi Benefits from Dedicated Audi Financial Services Division

    AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Oct. 2 -- Audi of America, Inc. and
VW Credit, Inc., today announced the creation of Audi Financial Services, a
captive provider dedicated to Audi clients and Audi dealers.  Audi Financial
Services, a division of VW Credit, is headquartered in Auburn Hills, Michigan
and will service Audi dealers and clients throughout the United States.
    "Audi Financial Services is more than just a new name," said VW Credit
President Klaus-Dieter Schuermann.  "This is a dedicated group of people
selected and trained to understand the Audi brand, the dealer organization,
and our clients better than any other financial services provider.  We have a
vested interest in delivering the total Audi experience."
    The goal of this new organization is to better meet the needs of all its
clients resulting in higher satisfaction levels overall.  In a recent Consumer
Financing Satisfaction study, J.D. Power and Associates reports that
customer/client retention for the provider is 20 percent higher when financing
is placed with a captive provider compared to when financing is placed with a
bank.

    Audi Financial Services products and services include retail financing for
new, used, and leased vehicles, as well as wholesale financing, mortgages, and
capital loans for dealers.  In the J.D Power and Associates 1997 Dealer
Finance study, 81 percent of dealers were "very/somewhat" satisfied with
VW Credit's overall services, up nine points from the previous year.
    Audi's current business in America is highlighted by its remarkable rate
of growth during the last three years -- in 1995 and 1996 Audi achieved the
fastest growth of any brand in the luxury passenger car market.  In 1997
through September, sales are up 26.3 percent over 1996, again making Audi the
fastest growing brand in the luxury passenger car market.
