Nissan Division Reports September Sales
CARSON, Calif., Oct. 1 -- The Nissan Division of Nissan Motor
Corporation U.S.A. (NMC) posted September sales of 52,698 units. Calendar
year-to-date sales for Nissan Division totaled 529,106 units.
Supported by Nissan's comprehensive Altima launch campaign, which began in
late July, sales of the new 1998 Nissan Altima are gaining momentum. For
September, paced by sales of the 1998 model, Nissan Altima posted sales of
10,462 units, up 15 percent versus last month. The Nissan Maxima turned in
sales of 11,432 units, and the Nissan Sentra reported sales of 9,333 units.
Total sedan sales for September were 31,227 units. The Nissan 200SX had sales
of 2,308 units.
Nissan Quest turned in sales of 3,600 units, up 18.5 percent over last
month. The Nissan Pathfinder and Truck reported sales of 6,198 and 9,008,
respectively. Combined September sales of the Truck, Pathfinder and Quest
were 18,806 units. Calendar year-to-date sales for Truck, Pathfinder and
Quest were 188,262.
Sales of Nissan's North American-produced vehicles for September totaled
34,711 units, which represents 65.9 percent of all Nissan vehicles sold in the
United States. Total NMC sales for September, including Nissan and Infiniti
Divisions, were 58,889 units. Combined calendar year-to-date sales for Nissan
and Infiniti Divisions were 578,365 units.
Nissan Motor Corporation U.S.A., which includes the Infiniti luxury
division, markets and distributes Nissan and Infiniti vehicles in the United
States to more than 1,200 dealers.
