Kia Reports Best Sales Ever for September 1997

                Sales for Kia Motors America Continue to Rise

    IRVINE, Calif., Oct. 1, -- Kia Motors America today announced
record sales of 7,123 vehicles for the month of September, breaking last
month's record high of 6,321 vehicles by more than 800 vehicles.  Retail sales
for September were the highest total since sales began in February 1994.  The
Sephia compact sedan and Sportage sport-utility vehicle each had its highest
sales month ever, as did Kia overall.
