Wheels Sports Group, Inc. Preliminary Acquisition Negotiations

    MOCKSVILLE, N.C., Oct. 1 -- Wheels Sports Group, Inc.
announced today that it is engaged in negotiations which may
lead to its making certain material business acquisitions.  However, no
definitive agreements have been entered into, and there can be no assurance
that any of the transactions will be completed.  Management stated that the
contemplated transactions are consistent with the general acquisition strategy
described in the company's April 16, 1997, prospectus.
    Wheels Sports Group, Inc., is a NASCAR licensee engaged in the design,
marketing and distribution of merchandise for NASCAR fans, including  high-
quality collectible sports trading cards, apparel and souvenirs.  The company
also provides motorsports-related hospitality management and corporate
promotions.
