Goodyear Unveils All-New www.goodyear.comAKRON, Ohio, Oct. 1 -- Goodyear -- the first tiremaker in cyberspace -- has taken what is regarded by many as one of the best business sites on the World Wide Web and made it even better. The all-new Web site, http://www.goodyear.com, which went on-line today, is designed to be faster and easier to use than before. "Visitors to the Goodyear Web site will find more information and be able to gain access in just two or three mouse clicks from any page," said Rob Elder, the company's global Web site manager. In addition to the information on Goodyear products -- tires, belts, hoses and chemicals -- for which it is well-known, the new http://www.goodyear.com, includes material on the company's history, its global operations, corporate financial results and its famous airships. New features include special sections for school students and those researching the company. Since going online in March 1995, Goodyear's standard-setting Web site has received numerous honors, including being named the sixth-best business site on the Web by "The Journal of Business Strategy" and one of top 25 business sites by "Interactive Age," as well as praise from reviewers such as "Fortune" magazine, "Yahoo! Internet Life" and Point Communications. "Visitors to http://www.goodyear.com have come from all around the world, including Germany, Russia, Brazil and various locations in the Far East," said Elder. "We'll soon offer content in several languages to make it easier for visitors who don't speak English." The improved Web site was designed and created by Goodyear's in-house team and can seamlessly integrate content from developers around the world. Elder said http://www.goodyear.com is visited by more than 10,000 people from around the globe each week. More than half of them use the site's interactive tire guide to determine the best Goodyear tire for their car or truck based on individual driving characteristics. "We invented features such as the interactive tire guide, store locator and tire school that have been copied by other tire-related sites," Elder said. "This redesign of http://www.goodyear.com makes use of new, state-of-the-art Web architecture and takes us to the next level." SOURCE The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company
