Federal Court Grants Republic's Motion To Dismiss Honda's Legal ChallengeFORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., Sept. 29 -- The United States District Court for the Central District of California today granted Republic Industries' motion to dismiss a lawsuit brought by American Honda Motor Co. that sought to limit Republic's ability to acquire Honda dealerships in the United States. The court also denied Honda's request for an injunction that would have prevented Republic from acquiring additional Honda dealerships. Reacting to the court's decision, Steven R. Berrard, President and Co-CEO of Republic Industries, said, "We have long maintained that Honda dealers have the right to sell their dealerships to Republic and that Republic has the right to buy these dealerships. We are obviously very pleased that the federal court agrees." Republic Industries is the largest automotive retailer in the world. The company currently owns two Honda and two Acura dealerships, with six Honda acquisitions pending. SOURCE Republic Industries, Inc.
