EDS And VINnet Collaborate to Help Automotive Retailers Streamline Licensing Process

TROY, Mich., Sept. 24 -- EDS announced today a
collaborative marketing agreement with VINnet, Inc. to offer services that
will enable automotive retailers to electronically issue permanent license
plates on the spot and eliminate the need for temporary tags.
EDS and VINnet will provide services that allow automotive retailers to
streamline the process of registering vehicles, recording liens, transferring
registrations between vehicles, and verifying information electronically with
state motor vehicle agencies. With this customized system, dealership
customers purchasing new or used vehicles will be issued permanent plates
instead of paper tags at the point of sales, thereby avoiding delays in
receiving permanent plates and eliminating the need for temporary tags.
"EDS' agreement with VINnet enables us to provide automotive retailers
with an electronic one-stop processing tool," said Bernie Johnson, vice
president of the EDS Automotive Retail Group. "The VINnet program is
Internet-based, user-friendly, cost effective and available 24 hours a day, 7
days a week."
"The collaboration between VINnet, Inc. and EDS will provide a totally
integrated system for auto dealers to maximize the level of service to their
customers during the delivery process," says Stan Paul, President and CEO of
VINnet, Inc.
