Ford Grants $1.5 Million to Ohio State University

COLUMBUS, Ohio, Sept. 24 -- Ohio State University and Ford
Motor Company announced today that Ford will give the college
$1.5 million to establish a Ford Motor Company Chair in Global Business
Management.
Robert L. Rewey, Ford's group vice president of marketing, sales and
service, made the announcement on Ohio State's campus. Representatives of
both Ohio State's Max M. Fisher College of Business and Ford participated in
several events that marked the start of the new business chair.
Fisher College of Business Dean Joseph A. Alutto noted, "We are pleased
that Ford's affiliation and identification with the Fisher College will assist
in conveying that this is a very special setting for global learning.
Continued partnerships with organizations like Ford Motor Company will become
increasingly important to the success of the Fisher College of Business and
our graduates."
Rewey, an Ohio State alumnus, said Ford and the Fisher College of Business
share similar goals. "We both want to enhance global business management
expertise and practices by bringing together the wisdom of educators and the
experience of business people," he said. "Our partnership with the Fisher
College has earned us the reputation of being one of the college's top
recruiters. Now we are creating an even stronger partnership with the
university."
Dr. Oded Shenkar will be named the Ford Visiting Professor in Global
Business Management. He will engage in international initiatives through the
college's Center for International Business Education and Research.
The Ford gift is part of a $90 million fund-raising effort by the Fisher
