Asian Auto Industry to be Discussed at U-M Conference, Oct. 6-7ANN ARBOR, Mich., Sept. 22 -- The University of Michigan's third annual conference on the Asian auto industry will take place Oct. 6-7 at the Dearborn Inn in Dearborn, Mich. "The Automotive Industry in Asia: Is the Asian Market for Real?" will feature nearly three dozen Asian auto industry experts, who will address aftermarket sales, competitor strategies, consumer and corporate finance, human resource management, joint ventures and product development. "Now that the dust appears to be settling on the currency crisis afflicting Southeast Asia's once-booming economies, it may be time to consider what its implications may be for the U.S. auto industry's bold new investments there," says Linda Lim, director of the U-M's Southeast Asia Business Program (SEABP). The conference is sponsored by the SEABP, part of the U-M Business School's Center for International Business Education, and by the U-M Transportation Research Institute's Office for the Study of Automotive Transportation, directed by David Cole.
