Porsche First Automotive Recipient of the Fashion Group International's Design Award

NEW YORK, Sept. 19 -- Porsche is the first automobile
manufacturer to receive The Fashion Group International's (TFGI) annual design
award. The prize, given at TFGI's 14th Annual "Night of Stars" award ceremony
last evening here, honors the international fashion industry's leading
designers and style makers. For its many distinctive automobiles, including
the classic 911 and new Boxster models, Porsche was chosen one of The Fashion
Group International's Masters of Design.
"Porsche has endeavored to play a special role in the ever changing design
process," commented Mr. Harm Lagaay, Chief Designer of the Porsche Design
Studio in accepting the award, "a role in which its design philosophy always
remains clear and consistent. Therefore, our cars have a strong identity and
character. Whatever models we create are perceived as unmistakably Porsche."
Other recipients of the prestigious award this year were fashion trend
setters John Galliano, Francois Lesage, Antonio Ratti, Yohji Yamamoto, Peter
Marion and Karl Lagerfeld.
The Fashion Group International is a global non-profit organization
established in 1930 with over 6,000 members in the fashion and related
lifestyle industries. It is dedicated to serving the growing needs of
executives and professionals in all aspects of the fashion business.
