Lear Corporation's Technology Division Announces Vice President Appointments

    SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Sept. 11 -- Lear Corporation
today announced the promotions of James A. Eickhoff and James C. Masters to
Vice Presidents for the company's Technology Division.
    Mr. Eickhoff is appointed Vice President and General Manager - Technology
Division.  In his new position, Mr. Eickhoff will oversee the integration of
Lear's European Technology Centers, with the primary focus on complete
interior system development.
    Mr. Eickhoff, who joined Lear in 1995 as part of the company's acquisition
of Automotive Industries, most recently served as Director of Operations.  Mr.
Eickhoff has a combined 25 years of technical automotive engineering
experience in addition to his more recent background in business operations.
Previous experience includes Studio Engineer with General Motors' Design Staff
and engineering positions with American General Corporation and Chrysler
Corporation.
    Mr. Eickhoff and his wife, Kathy, will be relocating to Ebersberg,
Germany.  They have two grown daughters.  Mr. Eickhoff is a member of the
Society of Automotive Engineers.
    Mr. Masters is promoted to Vice President Advanced Technology for the
company's Technology Division.  In his new position, Mr. Masters will be
leading the integration of Lear's global product development groups with a
primary focus on Industrial Design, Advanced Product Development, and Advanced
Product Analysis.
    Mr. Masters joined Lear in 1994 as the Manager of Seat Development.  He
most recently served as Director of Advanced Product Development.  Prior to
joining Lear, Mr. Masters worked in the automotive, transportation and
aerospace industries.  Among many of Mr. Masters' recognized accomplishments,
while at Coach and Car Equipment Corporation, he invented and patented the
first ever transportation energy absorbing seating system significantly
reducing the potential for passenger injury.
    Mr. Masters holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of
California - Berkeley.  He is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers,
the Engineering Society of Detroit, and a participant on the National
Professional Engineers advisory board.  He resides in Farmington Hills,
Michigan, along with his two children, Jenifer and Brian.
