Discount Tire Offers SmarTire(TM) SystemNORTH CANTON, OH., Sept. 10 /CNW-PRN/ - Discount Tire, with more than 334 locations nationwide, has added the SmarTire Wireless Tire Pressure Monitor System to its retail product mix. ``We are delighted that Discount Tire has decided to carry the SmarTire(TM) system. It demonstrates their concern for total customer satisfaction and safety,'' said Gary Schlachter, Executive Vice President, Sales and Marketing for SmarTire USA Inc. ``SmarTire(TM) complements their tire and wheel line and confirms that Discount Tire is on the leading edge of automotive safety technology.'' ``We are excited to take on the SmarTire(TM) system,'' said Allen J. Olsen, Discount Tire Senior Vice President. ``With all of the heightened awareness surrounding automotive safety of late, we feel this system will give our customers the peace of mind that comes from knowing they don't have to be stranded by a flat tire.'' The SmarTire(TM) system relies on state-of-the-art sensor and wireless radio technologies to continuously monitor the pressure and temperature of each tire on the vehicle while it is in motion. Wheel-sensors transmit this data to an interactive display module inside the vehicle, which automatically alerts the driver of tire pressure loss. Schlachter noted that SmarTire(TM), which is original equipment on the 1997 Lincoln Continental, is the only tire pressure monitoring system available in the automotive aftermarket. The system is offered with a three year/50,000 mile warranty and is suitable for use on virtually all standard tubeless tires. SmarTire USA Inc. is a subsidiary of UniComm Signal Inc.
