AE Goetze-South Bend Earns QS-9000 Certification

    SOUTH BEND, Ind., Sept. 4 -- AE Goetze North America, part of
the Piston Products Group of T&N plc, recently received QS-9000 certification
at it's South Bend, Ind., piston manufacturing facility.  AE Goetze-South Bend
is the company's first North American piston manufacturing facility to achieve
certification.
    "The certification is just one more example of AE Goetze's continuing
commitment to quality and success," said David Krohn, president and CEO of AE
Goetze North America.  "The entire team at AE Goetze is proud to be recognized
for our high standard of product excellence."
    With approximately 400 employees, the South Bend facility produces pistons
for the OEM North American automotive market.
    QS-9000 is a quality systems standard developed by the U.S. automotive
industry that requires manufacturers have documented and demonstrated quality
systems applied to ensure specific customer requirements are met.
    AE Goetze North America's Manitowoc, Wisc., and Wausau, Wisc., piston ring
facilities received certification earlier this year, with the remaining
company locations scheduled to receive certification by the end of 1998.
