1998 Lincoln Town Car Priced for Comfort

DETROIT, Sept. 3 -- Lincoln today confirmed manufacturer's
suggested retail prices for its dramatically restyled flagship sedan, the
Lincoln Town Car.
While the 1998 Town Car provides an all-new exterior and interior and
significant functional enhancements, Lincoln delivered a modest increase in
the starting price on the Executive Series and reductions for both the
Signature and Cartier Series.
Suggested retail price for the Executive Series starts at $38,500, up $550
from the 1997 model. The Signature Series suggested retail price is $40,150,
down $160 from last year's model. Price for the Cartier Series is reduced
$1,370 to $42,500. All prices include destination and delivery charges of
$670.
The Executive and Signature Series are enhanced with the inclusion of
several high-want features that formerly were options, including leather
seating surfaces, all-speed traction control and electochromic mirrors with
compass.
"Town Car has always been about arriving in style," said Jim O'Connor,
Ford Motor Company vice president in charge of Lincoln. "But
Lincoln is also committed to offering premium, personal luxury at a
comfortable price.
"The 1998 Town Car, with its sophisticated engineering and dramatic new
appearance offers luxury value to our current Town Car customers and broadens
Lincoln's appeal to a new generation of full-size luxury sedan drivers."
Lincoln also announced suggested retail prices for several options,
including the first-ever Touring Sedan for the Town Car. The optional
Signature Touring Sedan package, with a suggested retail price of $500, adds
dual exhaust and increased horsepower (220 h.p.) to the 4.6-liter SOHC V-8
engine, as well as monotube shocks, unique wheels and tires, along with other
distinct exterior and interior appearance treatments.
The 1998 Town Car retains the six-passenger seating, large trunk capacity,
smooth ride, and safety features that have earned it one of the highest
customer loyalty ratings in the industry. Prices announced today are
effective immediately. Public introduction of the 1998-model Town Car is
November 26, 1997, but Lincoln dealers have been authorized to begin taking
orders.
In addition to the flagship Town Car, the Lincoln lineup includes the new
full-size luxury SUV, the Navigator, the restyled, front-wheel-drive
Continental, and the Mark VIII luxury sport coupe. Lincoln recently announced
that an all-new, luxury sport sedan -- the Lincoln LS6 and LS8 -- will add a
driver-oriented luxury vehicle to its lineup in early 1999.
"A new era has begun for Lincoln," said O'Connor.
