Cambridge Industries Expands Into the Brazil Market

    MADISON HEIGHTS, Mich., Sept. 2 -- Cambridge Industries Inc.
today announced it has expanded its operation outside of North America into
Sao Paulo, Brazil through the acquisition of Owens Corning's Brazilian
division.  Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
    The expansion allows Cambridge to manufacture plastic components for
automotive and other industries from the South Latin American facility.  The
customer-driven purchase establishes a presence for Cambridge in the Brazil
market.
    "This effort is another important step in Cambridge's globalization
strategies to better serve the automotive industry," said Kevin Alder,
president and COO.  "South America is a particularly important market for us
because of the substantial commitment our customers have made there."
    Cambridge intends to expand the Latin American business into a full
service, world-class plastics processing facility with complete assembly and
secondary process capabilities.  The focus will be on supplying interior,
exterior and structural and functional components, subsystems and systems to
the Latin American automotive industry.
    Cambridge Industries Inc. is a privately-owned, world class manufacturer
of plastic systems for exterior, structural/functional and interior components
to the global automotive industry.  It is among the largest, most diverse
processors of thermoplastic and thermoset materials for the automotive and
