Chrysler/Plymouth Minivan Family Night Expands to Six CitiesAUBURN HILLS, Mich., Aug. 29 -- Nearly 75,000 Chrysler and Plymouth minivan owners and their families will converge on Six Flags theme parks this September in California, Illinois, Missouri, New Jersey and Texas to enjoy fun filled evenings at Chrysler/Plymouth Minivan Family Nights. Minivan Family Nights are private events sponsored by Chrysler/Plymouth Marketing and local dealers for Chrysler Town & Country and Plymouth Voyager minivan owners and their families. Minivan owners receive invitations to attend as guests of their Chrysler/Plymouth dealer at one of the six exclusive events at Six Flags theme parks. These events are designed to bring minivan families together for a night of fun family activities and to thank them for becoming part of the Chrysler/Plymouth minivan family. Chrysler/Plymouth Minivan Family Night was so successful with owners last year that it was expanded from a one-city test program for 8,000 people at Atlanta's Six Flags Over Georgia to six parks on four Friday nights during September. This year's Minivan Family Night will be the largest one-on-one relationship marketing program for Chrysler Corporation . "This is a terrific opportunity for us to meet face-to-face with our minivan owners and thank them for choosing a Chrysler or Plymouth minivan," said Martin R. Levine, General Manager - Chrysler/Plymouth/Jeep(R)/Eagle. "It's an evening filled with fun activities for active minivan families." Chrysler invented the minivan segment of the automotive market when it first introduced the minivan in 1984. Since then, minivans have become a necessity for people with active lifestyles. There are now more than 20 competitive minivan models in the U.S. market. The minivan segment has grown from a mere 100,000 units in 1984 to well over one million vehicles per year. During each of the past four years, Chrysler has sold more than one-half million minivans. Chrysler's minivans continue to comprise about half of all minivans sold in this country. Chrysler Corporation's 1998 minivans offer the broadest line-up in the industry, with more bodystyles, powertrain choices, individuality and value. They feature industry firsts such as driver-side sliding door, Easy Out Roller Seats., Dual Zone Temperature Control and a windshield wiper de-icer. Minivan owners attending the Minivan Family Nights will also get to test drive all the new 1998 Chrysler/Plymouth vehicles, including the Chrysler Town & Country, Sebring Coupe, Sebring Convertible and Cirrus and Plymouth Voyager, Breeze and Neon. Chrysler/Plymouth Minivan Family Nights will be held at the following locations and dates: Six Flags Magic Mountain, Valencia, Calif., on Sept. 5; Six Flags St. Louis, Eureka, Mo., on Sept. 12; Six Flags Great Adventure, Jackson, N.J., on Sept. 12; Six Flags Great America, Gurnee, Ill., on Sept. 19; Six Flags Over Texas, Arlington, Texas, on Sept. 19, and Six Flags AstroWorld, Houston, Texas, on Sept. 26.
