LucasVarity Relocates Diesel Systems Division Headquarters

PARIS, Aug. 28 -- Diesel Systems, a division of LucasVarity
PLC , the global automotive, diesel engine, aftermarket and
aerospace group, has announced that it will be relocating the divisional
headquarters to Paris, France.
The division, currently headquartered in Blois, France, will move into new
premises situated between the La Defense business district and central Paris
on the Isle de la Jatte in Neuilly on Sept. 1, 1997. The move only affects
the division's senior management, sales and marketing and strategic sourcing
finance departments. The manufacturing, research and development facilities
will remain in Blois and the current sites throughout Europe. The division
sites around the world include manufacturing facilities in Brazil, England,
France, India, Korea, Mexico, Spain and Turkey. In the United States, Diesel
Systems has an engineering and marketing office based in Troy, Mich.
Commenting on the move, Dominique Chauvin, managing director, Diesel
Systems, said, "The new location will make communications with our key
contacts, including customers and suppliers much easier. Greater efficiency
will be achieved by being based in an international capital, and we will
benefit from improved links with our own manufacturing facilities based around
the world."
The move is the latest investment by the division to improve its customer
responsiveness. Initially, 50 staff will be based at the new offices in La
Jatte, which will eventually accommodate other LucasVarity staff based in
Paris.
