Stevens Named Vice President and General Manager, Magellan Driver Information Systems

    SAN DIMAS, Calif., Aug. 27 -- Southern California-based
Magellan Systems, a subsidiary of Orbital Sciences Corp. ,
announced today Roger A. Stevens has been named vice president and general
manager for Driver Information Systems.  He will report to Randy Hoffman,
Magellan president.
    In this position, Stevens will oversee all operational activities of the
product development group, which designed and marketed the PathMaster(TM)
Global Positioning System (GPS)-based vehicle navigation system.  Magellan
recently acquired the Troy, Mich.-based unit from Rockwell International
.
    Stevens was previously general manager of Automotive Electronics for
Rockwell's Automotive business sector.  Stevens joined Rockwell in 1978 as a
technical staff member at the Collins Transmission System Division.  In 1989,
Stevens became director of GPS business, where he was responsible for coupling
Rockwell's GPS defense-oriented technology base and its commercial electronics
expertise.
    Prior to joining Rockwell, Stevens worked as a project engineer for
Bechtel Corporation, supporting various communications systems including the
Riyadh International Airport in Saudi Arabia.
    Magellan designs, manufactures and markets a variety of satellite
navigation and communications products for worldwide commercial and consumer
markets.  The company introduced the world's first commercial hand-held GPS
receiver in 1989, and the world's first hand-held satellite communications
device in 1997.
    Magellan manufactures and sells a variety of satellite navigation and
communications products for aviation, mapping, marine, outdoor recreation,
survey, systems integration and wireless communications.  It is a subsidiary
